FAQ tiggiTape Measure
How do I get the best accuracy?
Measure a known length (a bank card is 85.6mm or 3.37in) as a check, or calibrate again, if you are not sure you have your iPhone in the same position on the same calibrated support.
Use a support that keeps your iPhone parallel with the surface.
A shorter support will be more accurate than a taller support.
Slide ‘top-bottom’ when you can.
Leave the start marker in the centre when you can.
Drag the start marker to an edge if you are measuring from or up to the edge of a surface.
Check the autofocus has worked before you start sliding – you can move the camera and press the start button again if needed.
Slide steadily, not too quickly, and on a suitable flat surface so that the ‘traffic lights’ stay green. Tap the ‘i’ button on the ‘Settings’ screen for information on surfaces.
Try to keep your hand and the support out of view of the camera. If you’re not measuring a flat surface but an adjacent object then the camera should ‘see’ only the edge of that object.
Enable the torch for low light conditions; Advanced Settings can be found by tapping the ‘i’ button on the ‘Settings’ screen.
Try a few pencil marks if you have a difficult plain surface to measure on. (Enabling the torch should also help.)
